Glenavon fell to a third successive league defeat against Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park. A Barney McKeown own goal (14 mins) and a Kealan Dillon (61 mins) strike secured three points for the East Tyrone men.
Dungannon controlled much of the 90 minutes.
Gael Bigirimana shot over the bar from distance.
When Kealan Dillon crossed from the left, Thomas Maguire headed straight at Gareth Deane.
Steven Scott shot straight at the Glenavon goalkeeper from 20 yards.
A Maguire shot from 15 yards was caught easily by Deane.
The Swifts took the lead in the 14th minute when Barney McKeown hooked Bigirimana’s cross from the right into his own net. Although it was a clumsy attempted clearance, the Glenavon defender – with Andrew Mitchell in space behind him – was forced to go for the ball.
The visitors’ first attempt on goal with a miscued shot from Matthew Snoddy which sailed over the crossbar.
In the 27th minute Mitchell released Maguire with a neat , but the Dungannon striker dragged his attempt wide of the post.
In the 34th minute Snoddy’s long forward was headed on by McDaid and O’Connor let fly with his left foot. Declan Dunne tipped the ball over the crossbar.
Snoddy got his head to Peter Campbell’s free kick, but Dunne saved easily.
When James Knowles crossed from the right, Mitchell’s looping header struck the Glenavon crossbar and was cleared.
In the 61st minute Dungannon doubled its lead. Kealan Dillon toed the ball past Deane from 8 yards after a brilliant ing move involving Glenny, Bigirimana and Maguire.
When Peter Campbell crossed from the left, David McDaid, under pressure from Danny Wallace, headed wide.
Jamie Doran shot over from an acute angle after a sweeping cross field by Jack Malone.
In the closing minutes Dungannon threatened to extend its lead.
Knowles released Mitchell but his shot from distance was straight at Gareth Deane.
Dillon’s attempted lob went over the crossbar.
Finally, Mitchell’s low drive from 20 yards was saved well by Deane.
