On 30th November 2024, when the Lurgan Blues were last in action, Matthew Snoddy rescued a point against Coleraine in an exciting 3-3 draw.
Since then, the players have trained regularly.
“The boys have been in on every occasion when it was possible,” said Paddy McLaughlin. “We have worked on fitness and other aspects.”
There were get-togethers on Saturday morning and Monday evening.
“We had a couple of light sessions to go over one or two things,” added Paddy. “It was useful. Now the players are raring to go.”
On Friday night the new boss watched Crusaders lose 3-1 against Glentoran at Seaview.
“The Crues were excellent for 60-65 minutes,” he explained. “They were a goal up and looked very comfortable. But then the Glens made a few substitutions, scored twice in as many minutes and the match was suddenly very different. But, despite the result, the team we face is strong, well organised and has quality all over the pitch. We will need to be at our very best if we are to get a result.”
Paddy reports a near fully fit squad. Only long-term absentee Isaac Baird is unavailable.
The match is sponsored by Ms. Karen Cunningham in memory of her late father, Mr. Noel Cunningham.
The ball sponsor is Mr. Jack Pringle.
The McCracken’s Brewery “Player of the Match” sponsors are Mr. Gareth Lough and Mr. Kyle Kirkwood.
Many thanks to all our sponsors.
